The accident
A 41-year-old man was travelling home from the city centre when a bus collided with the vehicle behind him. The impact forced that vehicle into his car, triggering a four-car concertina collision.
The injuries
The accident caused the client to suffer multiple injuries, including damage to his neck, shoulders, lower back, chest, ribs, right finger and right foot. He also experienced nausea, headaches, dizziness, poor balance, numbness in his left foot, blurred vision, and elevated blood pressure that will require lifelong medication.
He required hospital treatment, diagnostic scans, physiotherapy, and ongoing medical care.
The claim
JK Lawyers pursued a claim against the bus company responsible for causing the collision. Although liability was admitted, the company’s initial settlement offers were far too low to properly compensate the client for the life-changing injuries he had sustained.
As a result, JK Lawyers issued court proceedings. Following this, the bus company made a significantly improved offer. JK Lawyers then successfully negotiated an even higher settlement, allowing the claim to be resolved out of court before the final hearing.
The outcome
The client was ultimately awarded almost £60,000 in compensation.
This settlement reflected not only the pain and suffering caused by his injuries, but also his travel expenses, vehicle-related costs, medical expenses, and the broader impact the accident had on his quality of life.
