The accident
Our client was working in Cheshire, loading pallets onto an HGV bay.
Two employees operating a forklift truck had stacked the pallets too high. As our client was loading the vehicle, the top of the stack struck a door inside the HGV, causing the pallets to topple onto him.
The impact sent our client flying and left him injured.
The injuries
Our client was taken straight to hospital with a deep gash to his head, which was bleeding heavily. A&E staff were able to glue the wound rather than stitch it, helping to preserve the hair around the injury.
He also suffered concussion, headaches, neck and shoulder pain and whiplash-type symptoms following the accident.
The physical injuries were only part of the impact. Our client experienced significant anxiety and stress following the accident, made worse by difficulties at work.
The claim
Our client knew of JK Lawyers’ reputation and contacted us directly for help.

We believed from the outset that our client had a strong case.
The defendant thought differently.
The claim was opened on 11 April 2025, and liability was disputed throughout. The defendant adopted an aggressive approach to the case and, despite settlement offers being made, continued to insist that the matter would go to trial.
A trial was eventually listed for 25 June 2026. Our client and his two witnesses were prepared and ready to attend court.
The defendant’s message to us was clear:
“See you at court.”
We were equally prepared to do exactly that.
The outcome
Then, just one day before trial, everything changed.
Once the defendant’s barrister reviewed the evidence, their position became difficult to maintain. Rather than face our client and his witnesses in court, the defendant agreed to settle.
Remarkably, they ultimately accepted an offer that JK Lawyers had made around four months earlier.
Our client received £4,000 in compensation, bringing a claim that had been fiercely contested for more than a year to a successful conclusion.
It wasn’t one of our highest-value cases.
But the value of a claim doesn’t determine how hard we’ll fight for our client.
The defendant told us they’d see us in court.
We were ready. They weren’t.
